SEASONAL CABINS /
Hoek van Holland Strand

Concept

MODULAR

This project explores a more sustainable alternative to the traditional beachside accommodations at Hoek van Holland.

This concept proposes compact, demountable cabins positioned inland and assembled only during the summer months. This approach aims to preserve the natural character and open quality of the beach.

Key design considerations included a compact 5x5 meter footprint for efficient spatial use and natural light. The use of lightweight, modular timber-frame (HSB) construction with wooden finishes and simple connectors supports both quick assembly and disassembly.

Amenities are minimal yet thoughtful: a rooftop water tank above the bathroom area provides the water supply, and cooking is done outdoors on a grill, enhancing the getaway experience.

Rather than permanent villas placed directly on the shore, this concept proposes compact, demountable cabins positioned slightly inland and assembled only during the summer months. This approach aims to preserve the natural character and open quality of the beach.
