There's this notion to believe that finding your ''purpose'' happens through certainty.
That one day you simply discover the thing you're meant to do.

I believe clarity is the result of spending years doing things that appear unrelated.

I studied law after graduating high-school. I've spent time in the fashion industry. Started collecting art and furniture pieces. Started doing photogrpahy & film.

I found myself paying attention to materials, construction, proportions and landscapes long before I understood why.
At the time, none of these pursuits felt connected. They simply occupied my curiosity.

Before depth

We admire specialists.

The architect.
The designer.
The artist.
The writer.

What we rarely see are the years before they became those things.
There is value in moving between disciplines because every interest teaches you to observe differently.

The permission to wander

There's pressure to optimise everything. Particularly when young

Choose one path. Become exceptional at it. Ignore all else.

While commitment is admirable, i think there's equal value in exploration. Not every interest/hobby needs to become a career

I guess what I'm trying to say is that you rarely know what is worth dedicating your life to until you've spent years moving between disciplines.

Perhaps the goal isn't to find your passion as quickly as possible but to remain curious for long enough so that the right pursuit reveals itself.

Until then, there is value in doing everything.
